Graphic Design Studio: Sidekick Posters

Virtual
Ages 12–18

Join MODA for a virtual studio in which students will design a character profile poster that introduces an original sidekick.

In this virtual studio, young designers will explore how character design, visual hierarchy, and layout work together to communicate identity. Students will brainstorm their sidekick’s personality traits and role, sketch ideas for appearance and symbols, and use Canva to create a polished poster that highlights who their character is and what makes them stand out. At the end of the studio, students can share their posters and receive feedback in a supportive environment.

In this Afterschool Studio, we’ll:

  • Explore how designers use color, shape, and symbols to express personality

  • Create a clear character profile using layout and hierarchy

  • Use Canva to design a poster that features a custom sidekick character

  • Practice brainstorming, sketching, and translating ideas into final graphics

  • Provide a space to share and provide constructive feedback

  • Practice collaboration, inclusivity, creative courage, imaginative problem-solving, storytelling, and critical thinking

Tech Needs:
