What is Design Next?
Presented by the Museum of Design Atlanta in partnership with the Peachtree Branch of the Fulton County Library System, Design Next is a free architecture program for students in grades 9-12. See the whole series.
In this session, we’ll explore how architects and planners design spaces that respond to people, communities, and the environment. Students will investigate site conditions, transportation, landscape, and environmental factors before developing their own site-responsive design using professional planning techniques.
What You’ll Do

Explore how sunlight, wind, water, views, and landscape influence design
Investigate transportation and community planning
Create bubble diagrams and site planning sketches
Design a landscape that responds to environmental conditions
Add your planning diagrams to your design portfolio
Share your ideas and receive constructive feedback
