Open Make Session: A Community Studio at MODA

  • Museum of Design Atlanta 1315 Peachtree Street Northeast Atlanta, GA, 30309 United States (map)

In-person at MODA | FREE

Our world is fast and chaotic. Open Make Session offers a rare kind of space: a place to sit, make, and think.

During this drop-in program, MODA’s galleries become a shared studio. Bring a project—something in progress or something you’ve been meaning to start. Spend time making in an inspiring environment. Whether you’re writing, editing, sketching, sewing, collaging, mending, or experimenting with an idea, this is a space to focus. Work on your own or alongside others.

What to Expect

  • A shared, low-key studio atmosphere set within the galleries

  • Room to dive into your own project or follow a new idea

  • A rotating supply of basic, accessible materials (paper, cardboard, fabric scraps, markers, and more)

  • Light prompts, if you want a place to begin

  • No pressure to produce anything finished—making itself is enough

Format

  • Free and open to the public

  • Drop-in, come and go as you like

  • Light facilitation by MODA staff

Studio Guidelines

  • Sign in at the front desk

  • Let the process lead—there’s no expectation of a finished result

  • Move at a pace that feels right for you

  • Check in before offering feedback or photographing others’ work

  • Choose materials that are suitable for a shared gallery setting

  • Be mindful and respectful of those around you

Drinks are welcome in spill-proof containers (no food in the galleries)
