Game Design Studio: Snowy Quests

Virtual
Ages 10 – 13

About This Afterschool Studio

Join MODA for a virtual studio in which students will design a snowy adventure game filled with icy challenges, frosty landscapes, and magical quests.

In this virtual studio, young designers will learn how to create interactive games using Scratch. They’ll design characters and obstacles, build a playable environment, and use block-based coding to challenge players to navigate through a snow-covered world. At the end of the studio, students can share their work and receive feedback in a supportive environment.

In This Afterschool Studio, students will . . .

  • Introduce foundational coding concepts using Scratch

  • Strengthen logical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Encourage creativity through visual design and storytelling in gameplay

  • Provide a space to share and provide constructive feedback

  • Practice collaboration, inclusivity, creative courage, imaginative problem-solving, storytelling, and critical thinking

Requirements:

  • A computer or tablet with internet access

  • Zoom

  • Scratch (it’s free!)

Registration Fee: Registration for this Afterschool Studio is free, but space is limited — save your young designer’s seat by clicking the link below!
