Ages 10 – 13

About This Camp

What makes a neighborhood feel like home? In this week of City Lab, campers will explore how the design of housing, public spaces, gathering areas, and local services impacts the people who live in a city.

They’ll examine how cities grow, how neighborhoods form identities, and what it takes to build inclusive, connected, and supportive communities.

Using crafting materials, campers will design their own neighborhoods that reflect the needs and values of diverse residents.

Campers will learn to:

  • Explore how neighborhoods are shaped by design and planning

  • Investigate issues like housing, community resources, and equity

  • Use design tools and materials to build models of inclusive communities

  • Learn how real-world examples in Atlanta and beyond are making that meet everyone’s needs

  • Practice collaboration and empathy as part of the design process

At the end of the week, parents and caregivers are invited for a showcase of the campers’ creations!

What to Bring:
