Design Book Club: The Library Book by Susan Orlean

  • Peachtree Branch of the Fulton County Library 1315 Peachtree Street Northeast Atlanta, GA, 30309 United States (map)

Join us at the Peachtree Branch Library at 12 p.m. on the first Friday of each month for a lively discussion of books that explore how design shapes our world. Hosted by MODA and the library, conversations are led by MODA staff or guest experts. If you like, bring your lunch (no red beverages, please) and dive into fresh perspectives on design!

This month, we invite you to explore The Library Book by Susan Orlean. How does the design of a library shape the way we gather, learn, and connect? Using the 1986 fire at the Los Angeles Public Library as a starting point, Orlean explores the history and evolution of libraries—from their architecture and organization to the people and communities they serve. Along the way, she reveals how these spaces are designed to make knowledge accessible, invite discovery, and bring people together.

This book can be borrowed through the Fulton County Library system or purchased in MODA’s Design Shop.

No registration is necessary. Just read the book and join us for a discussion!
