Minecraft Studio: EcoStructures

Virtual | Ages 8 – 14

From schools to grocery stores, how can we design sustainable buildings for our cities?

In this Minecraft Afterschool Studio, we’ll learn what makes buildings sustainable and study some sustainable buildings around the world.

Then, we’ll head into a collaboratively-built sustainable neighborhood on MODA’s Minecraft server to create our own EcoStructures and enhance structures that already exist, all while imagining how our sustainable buildngs make life better for the city’s Minecraft residents.

This Afterschool Studio teaches students to:

  • Collaborate with others to design and build sustainable structures for cities

  • Learn about sustainable city design

  • Practice using empathy in the design process

  • Learn about climate change and how we can design for nature

  • Strengthen creativity

  • Build resilience

Requirements:

  • A Mac or PC with a strong connection to the internet. PLEASE NOTE: Minecraft Java Edition will not work on Chromebooks, tablets, or phones.

  • Minecraft Java Edition, $29.99 (https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/store/minecraft-java-edition).
