During our exhibition, Bittersweet: The Design of Chocolate, we invite you to deepen your understanding and experience of chocolate by participating in a tasting!

About the Event:

Discover the wonder of Theobroma cacao—the remarkable plant behind chocolate—in an immersive tasting experience hosted by Xocolatl, an Atlanta-based craft chocolate maker.

In this guided 40-minute session, you’ll:

  • Taste your way around the world with our curated collection of single-origin dark chocolates, each expressing the unique terroir of the region where its cacao was grown.

  • Learn how chocolate is made—from the hands of small-scale farmers who grow and ferment the beans, to the ethical and sustainable methods Xocolatl uses to craft every bar.

  • Engage all your senses as you explore cacao from fruit to confection: smell, touch, taste, and savor the journey from cacao pod to finished chocolate.

Perfect for chocolate lovers, curious minds, and anyone eager to experience the complexity and beauty of craft chocolate.

About Xocolatl

Xocolatl Small Batch Chocolate (pronounced sho-koh-la-tul) is an Atlanta-based craft chocolate company founded by Elaine Read and Matt Weyandt in 2014. Inspired by their time living off-grid in Costa Rica, Xocolatl creates bold, ethically sourced, and minimally processed chocolate that celebrates the true flavor of cacao.

Xocolatl’s offerings—from two-ingredient bars to drinking chocolate and cacao tea—are made with a commitment to sustainability, transparency, and community impact. Named after the original Aztec word for chocolate, Xocolatl honors chocolate’s cultural roots while imagining a more just, delicious future.
