At Museum of Design Atlanta, Queer Figure Drawing with Ashanti Hampton is a welcoming, ongoing series where participants explore drawing through the body in motion, rest, and expression. Centered on the LGBTQIA+ community and allies, each session creates space to slow down, build confidence, and connect through observation and shared making. Open to all skill levels, it invites attendees to experiment freely and experience figure drawing as both a creative practice and a form of community care.

What does it mean to grow older in a queer body, surrounded by queer community?

Join MODA's Queer Figure Drawing Night with Ashanti Hampton for Queer Across Generations, a special session celebrating queer bodies across time. For this gathering, we'll welcome a queer elder as our model and make space to consider the beauty, complexity, and possibility of aging.

So many of us carry questions about what it means to grow older: Will I be allowed to age? What does it look like to grow older in my body and in my community? Through drawing, we'll honor aging as something visible, beautiful, and possible, and celebrate the bodies and stories that have helped make queer community what it is today.

Come draw, observe, reflect, and share space across generations. Seasoned artists and first-timers are all equally welcome.

What to expect:

  • Doors open at 7pm. Enjoy the museum after hours and mingle with fellow attendees.

About Ashanti Hampton:

Ashanti Hampton, a Georgia native from Stone Mountain, discovered their passion for design while studying at Georgia Tech, which led to a master’s in Industrial Design at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. During four years in New York, they immersed themselves in a vibrant arts community, joining gatherings that blended creativity, learning, and connection. Now back in Atlanta, Ashanti aims to bring those same inspiring experiences to the community—and to MODA.
