At Museum of Design Atlanta, Queer Figure Drawing with Ashanti Hampton is a welcoming, ongoing series where participants explore drawing through the body in motion, rest, and expression. Centered on the LGBTQIA+ community and allies, each session creates space to slow down, build confidence, and connect through observation and shared making. Open to all skill levels, it invites attendees to experiment freely and experience figure drawing as both a creative practice and a form of community care.

Check out our other Queer Figure Drawing programs.

What does a body look like mid-leap, mid-turn, mid-breath?

Join MODA's Queer Figure Drawing Night with Ashanti Hampton for a session centered on movement. Rather than static poses, our model moves through a series of dynamic, dance-inspired positions, an invitation to follow the body in motion and capture something alive on the page.

Seasoned artists and first-timers are all equally welcome.

What to expect:

  • Doors open at 7pm. Enjoy the museum after hours and mingle with fellow attendees.

  • Sketching begins at 7:30pm.

  • Draw a partially nude model in timed poses: 1-minute warm-ups, longer poses, and a final 20-minute sketch.

  • End the night with a relaxed sharing circle to show and discuss your work.

  • Facilitated by Ashanti Hampton

BYOAS! Bring your own art supplies. Communal supplies will also be available for those who need them. Mark your calendars, gather your sketchbooks, and get ready for an inspiring evening! Must be 18+ years old. We can’t wait to see you there! 🌈

About Ashanti Hampton:

Ashanti Hampton, a Georgia native from Stone Mountain, discovered their passion for design while studying at Georgia Tech, which led to a master’s in Industrial Design at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn. During four years in New York, they immersed themselves in a vibrant arts community, joining gatherings that blended creativity, learning, and connection. Now back in Atlanta, Ashanti aims to bring those same inspiring experiences to the community—and to MODA.
