Minecraft Studio: Communities on Mars

Virtual | Ages 8 – 14

Have you ever wondered what it might be like to live on the red planet?

If so, join MODA for a virtual Afterschool Studio and explore the fascinating challenge of designing communities on Mars. In this Minecraft studio, young designers will delve into the unique considerations of creating structures on the Red Planet, with a focus on addressing issues related to mental health, food sustainability, and physical well-being.

  • Explore different design concerns in the isolation of a community on Mars

  • Design approaches for sustainable food production in a harsh environment

  • Foster creative thinking and problem-solving skills through hands-on design projects

  • Encourage and build empathy

  • Strengthen creativity

  • Build resilience

Requirements:

  • A Mac or PC with a strong connection to the internet. PLEASE NOTE: Minecraft Java Edition will not work on Chromebooks, tablets, or phones.

  • Minecraft Java Edition, $29.99 (https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/store/minecraft-java-edition). PLEASE NOTE: Students with other editions of Minecraft are welcome to participate and build in their own single-player world; however, only students with Minecraft Java Edition will be able to interact with other students on the MODA multiplayer Minecraft Server.
