About the Event: 

You’re Invited to the MODA Members Meetup + ONE!

Join us for an evening of connection and exploration in architecture along with fellow MODA members and seasoned tour guide, Marissa Howard, from the DeKalb History Center. During our tour, we’ll delve into the design histories of Downtown Decatur and discover the stories behind the buildings and the inspiring architects who created them.

Together, we’ll learn what makes this area so unique and its greater impact on the world of design at large!

What to expect:

  • Connect with Other Design Enthusiasts: Meet at historic DeKalb History Center, and enjoy a complimentary beverage before we head out!

  • A Guided Tour: Journey together as we focus on commercial buildings spanning from 1920 to 1970. Members and their + one will see a wide variety of building styles from classical to modern.

  • ​​Meet the Experts: Learn from our seasoned pro tour guide, Marissa Howard, for the insider stories that have helped shape the culture of Downtown Decatur, and walk away with a new appreciation for the historic buildings!

About our Tour Guide:

Marissa Howard has served as the Programs and Membership Coordinator at the DeKalb History Center since 2017. In this role, she contributed to various research projects, spanning topics such as local history and roadside architecture. She has led walking tours all around DeKalb including the East Lake Neighborhood and Decatur Architecture. Additionally, she manages the DHC's membership program. Marissa graduated from Georgia State University and currently lives in Atlanta. Fun fact about Marissa: She is a figure skater, who started learning as an adult!

  • MODA reserves the right to cancel a program if the minimum enrollment requirements are not met, but don't worry: should MODA have to cancel, we will gladly issue a full refund to all registrants. If you need to cancel your plans for any reason, we kindly request that you notify us at least 7 days prior to the event start. By doing so, we can process a refund for the ticket cost (minus a small $10 processing fee per class). Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds for cancellations made less than 7 days before an event.‌

  • Several steps lead to the Xocolatl factory and tasting room.

  • Pictures and videos will be captured during MODA public programs and may be published on the official website, social media, and newsletters of the Museum of Design Atlanta. If you do not wish to appear on these platforms, please write to felicia@museumofdesign.org.

    3. Click ‘Register Now’

    4. In the Bottom Right Corner

    5. Click ‘Login Now’ next to ‘Have a SimpleTix account?’ (We’ve created your account, you simply need to complete it)

    6. Enter your email address associated with your MODA membership

    7. Click 'Forgot My Password'

    8. Follow the new email prompts to set up your new password

    9. Login with your password

    10. Select the event you wish to Register

    11. Select quantity of tickets

    12. Add to cart

    13. Your discount should be applied

    14. Proceed to Checkout

    15. Enter your payment details

    16. Receive your e-tickets to events
