About the Event:

Love chocolate and clever tech? This hands-on workshop is for you. Join designer Sarah Lawrence for a sweet evening that blends indulgence with innovation—enhancing your experience of BITTERSWEET: The Design of Chocolate, MODA’s current exhibition.

In this workshop, you’ll use FormBox by Mayku, a small machine that uses heat and vacuum power to create precise plastic molds on your desktop, to design and fabricate your own custom chocolate mold. Then, melt, flavor, and color your chocolate before pouring it into your mold and packaging the finished pieces in a beautiful box to take home—or gift (if you can resist eating them yourself).

What to Expect:

  • Step-by-step guidance in a small, creative group setting

  • A chance to see how tech is impacting the design of food using Mayku’s FormBox vacuum former

  • The opportunity to make a custom mold and fill it with flavored, colored, milk or white chocolate

  • Beautiful packaging for your handmade chocolates

  • All materials provided—plus the option to bring a small object (that fits in your hand) as mold inspiration

About Sarah Lawrence

Sarah Lawrence is a designer, illustrator, and creative technologist based in Atlanta, Georgia. She’s known for solving complex design problems and has worked with organizations like TEDx, DesignMadison, and MODA. Her work has been featured in Fast Company, 99U, and HLN, When she’s not creating, she’s spending time with her beloved pets, Peanut and Cocoa and Lernie, surrounded by her thriving plant collection.

  • MODA reserves the right to cancel a program if the minimum enrollment requirements are not met, but don't worry: should MODA have to cancel, we will gladly issue a full refund to all registrants. If you need to cancel your plans for any reason, we kindly request that you notify us at least 7 days prior to the event start. By doing so, we can process a refund for the ticket cost (minus a small $10 processing fee per class). Unfortunately, we cannot provide refunds for cancellations made less than 7 days before an event.‌

  • Designers with different styles of learning or special needs are welcome in MODA public programs. We will be able to most effectively help everyone learn and enjoy this experience if we know about those needs in advance of the program.
