Graphic Design Studio: Theme Park Merch

Virtual
Ages 13–17

Join MODA for a virtual studio in which students will design merchandise for a themed attraction or zone inside a fictional theme park.

In this virtual studio, young designers will explore how merchandise communicates a theme park’s identity through illustration, color, and stylized branding. Students will brainstorm their attraction or themed area, sketch a simple icon or character, and use Canva to design a merchandise ready graphic. They will focus on bold shapes, clear silhouettes, and eye catching color palettes that work across different items. At the end of the studio, students can share their posters and receive feedback in a supportive environment.

In this Afterschool Studio, we’ll:

  • Study how merchandise design expresses a park’s personality

  • Explore icons, characters, and styles that work across T-shirts, stickers, and other items

  • Use Canva to create a graphic suitable for theme park merchandise

  • Practice illustration, color selection, and visual branding skills

  • Provide a space to share and provide constructive feedback

  • Practice collaboration, inclusivity, creative courage, imaginative problem-solving, storytelling, and critical thinking
