Graphic Design Studio: Postcards from the Future

REGISTER HERE

Virtual
Ages 12-18

Join MODA for a virtual studio in which students will create a futuristic city tourism postcard of an imagined city.

In this virtual studio, young designers will explore how color, typography, architecture, and layout work together to communicate a sense of place. Students will brainstorm the culture and identity of their future city, sketch iconic buildings or districts, and use Canva to design a polished postcard that highlights what makes their city a destination. At the end of the studio, students can share their posters and receive feedback in a supportive environment.

In this Afterschool Studio, we’ll:

  • Explore how designers communicate place and identity through visual style

  • Study how postcards use composition and text to highlight key features

  • Use Canva to design a tourism postcard for a futuristic city

  • Create buildings, landmarks, and visual elements that reflect future architecture.

  • Provide a space to share and provide constructive feedback

  • Practice collaboration, inclusivity, creative courage, imaginative problem-solving, storytelling, and critical thinking

Tech Needs:

  • A computer

  • Zoom

  • Students must have access to a free Canva account. Sign up at: https://www.canva.com

  • This event is virtual and will be held over Zoom; participants will receive a link prior to the start of the workshop. If you do not see the link in your inbox, please email education@museumofdesign.org.

  • MODA reserves the right to cancel a program if the minimum enrollment requirements are not met, but don't worry: should MODA have to cancel, we will gladly issue a full refund to all registrants (if applicable). If you need to cancel your plans for any reason, we kindly request that you notify us at least 7 days prior to the event start.

  • Designers with different styles of learning or special needs are welcome in MODA public programs. We will be able to most effectively help everyone learn and enjoy this experience if we know about those needs in advance of the program.
