About This Afterschool Studio

Join MODA for a virtual studio in which young designers tell short stories by creating mini comic strips featuring original heroes, villains, and epic showdowns.

In this virtual studio, young designers will explore how to tell a story in just a few panels using sequential art, expressive characters, and clear visual flow. Using Canva’s comic strip templates, illustrations, speech bubbles, and text tools, students will design their own short comic centered around a hero, a villain, and the conflict between them.


In This Afterschool Studio, students will . . .

  • Introduces the basics of comic strip layout and sequential storytelling

  • Strengthens visual communication and narrative development

  • Encourages creative character design and expressive composition

  • Provide a space to share and provide constructive feedback

  • Practice collaboration, inclusivity, creative courage, imaginative problem-solving, storytelling, and critical thinking

Requirements:

  • A computer or tablet with internet access

  • Zoom

  • Students must have access to a free Canva account.
