Game Design Studio: Superhero Showdown

Virtual
Ages 10 – 13

About This Afterschool Studio

Join MODA for a virtual studio in which students will create their own heroes and villains for a chase game using Scratch, a block-based programming platform.

In this virtual studio, young designers will learn more about creating customized sprites - 2D graphics that represent a character, object, or element within a video game. They’ll use storytelling and simple coding to create a showdown between a hero and a villain. At the end of the studio, students can share their work and receive feedback in a supportive environment.

In This Afterschool Studio, students will . . .

  • Introduce foundational coding concepts using Scratch

  • Strengthen logical thinking and problem-solving skills

  • Encourage creativity through visual design and storytelling in gameplay

  • Provide a space to share and provide constructive feedback

  • Practice collaboration, inclusivity, creative courage, imaginative problem-solving, storytelling, and critical thinking

Requirements:

  • A computer or tablet with internet access

  • Zoom

  • Scratch (it’s free!)

Registration Fee: Registration for this Afterschool Studio is free, but space is limited — save your young designer’s seat by clicking the link below!
