Member Meetup + ONE: Art, Archives, & Identity at Emory

  • Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory University 571 South Kilgo Circle Northeast Atlanta, GA, 30322 United States (map)

In-person at Michael C. Carlos Museum at Emory

About the Event:

Join us for an inspiring experience where design meets art and culture. Connect with fellow design enthusiasts and delve into the unique inner workings of exhibitions, history, and archives. MODA is teaming up with the Michael C. Carlos Museum, and Emory Libraries to bring you a day to remember.

Here’s what you can look forward to:

  • A Guided Tour: An exclusive insider's look at Anonymous Fragments with Giovanni Lovisetto at the Michael C. Carlos Museum, showcasing Timothy Hull's new series inspired by ancient Greek vase fragments. Discover how an exhibition is created through research, inspiration, and collaboration. Explore how design and contemporary art connect with ancient narratives of identity, queer history, and desire.

  • Self-Guided Experience: Explore This Land Calls Us Home, curated by Miranda Kyle, showcasing the vibrant work of 25 contemporary Native American artists at the remarkable Schatten Gallery. Take time to contemplate and discuss the details of the space, the exhibition itself, and what it means to experience art through the designer's perspective.

  • Go Behind The Scenes: Enjoy a mini show of archival gems curated only for MODA members in the Rose Library, featuring insights and selections from Randy Gue, Assistant Director of Collection Development and Curator of Political, Cultural, and Social Movements.

As a member, you are welcome to bring a plus one and enjoy intimate insights throughout this curated experience. We’ll begin our journey behind the back patio of the Michael C. Carlos Museum, near the bridge, so we encourage you to arrive early.

Please note that space is limited, so secure your spot and that of your plus one today!
