Graphic Design Studio: Eco Posters

Virtual
Ages 12-16

Join MODA for a virtual studio in which students will design a nature-inspired poster that highlights an ecosystem, an animal species, or an environmental message.

In this virtual studio, young designers will explore how imagery, color, typography, and composition can be used to strengthen a message about the natural world. Students will choose a focus such as a rainforest, coral reef, pollinator garden, endangered species, or climate related idea. They will sketch a layout, select a color palette, and use Canva to create a polished poster that informs, inspires, or encourages action. At the end of the studio, students can share their posters and receive feedback in a supportive environment.

In this Afterschool Studio, we’ll:

  • Study how designers communicate environmental ideas through visual choices

  • Explore ecosystems and species to develop design concepts

  • Use Canva to create a poster that highlights nature or environmental action

  • Practice layout, typography, and image selection to shape a clear message

  • Provide a space to share and provide constructive feedback

  • Practice collaboration, inclusivity, creative courage, imaginative problem-solving, storytelling, and critical thinking

She holds a Master’s in Library and Information Science and brings several years of experience working in public libraries, where she fostered a love of reading and discovery in children and families. A lifelong reader and crafter, Leslie is passionate about teaching design thinking to the next generation and helping kids see how science, technology, engineering, arts, and math shape the world around them.

  • This event is virtual and will be held over Zoom; participants will receive a link prior to the start of the workshop. If you do not see the link in your inbox, please email education@museumofdesign.org.

  • MODA reserves the right to cancel a program if the minimum enrollment requirements are not met, but don't worry: should MODA have to cancel, we will gladly issue a full refund to all registrants (if applicable). If you need to cancel your plans for any reason, we kindly request that you notify us at least 7 days prior to the event start.

  • Designers with different styles of learning or special needs are welcome in MODA public programs.
