Digital Art Studio: Powers and Costumes

Virtual
Ages 12 – 18

About This Afterschool Studio

Join MODA for a virtual Afterschool Studio in which you’ll design your very own superhero or villain.

In this virtual studio, young designers will learn how artists develop characters by combining visual design with storytelling. We’ll begin by brainstorming powers, strengths, and weaknesses. Then use Medibang Paint Pro to design costumes, symbols, and visual features that reflect each character’s identity. At the end of the studio, students can share their work and receive feedback in a supportive environment.

In This Afterschool Studio, students will . . .

  • Introduces character design and storytelling through digital art

  • Practice worldbuilding through the development of a character backstory

  • Use costumes and symbols that reflect personality and powers

  • Transform ideas from sketches to digital art.

  • Provide a space to share and provide constructive feedback

  • Practice collaboration, inclusivity, creative courage, imaginative problem-solving, storytelling, and critical thinking
