Digital Art Studio: Creating Manga Characters

Virtual | Ages 12 – 17

Love anime and manga? Join MODA for a virtual Afterschool Studio where you’ll create your very own characters!

We’ll start by exploring the history and influence of anime and manga, then dive into their unique art styles. of Then it’s time to make our own anime and manga characters using the free program MediBang Paint. Along the way, participants will share their ideas with one another and the instructor.


In This Afterschool Studio, students will . . .

  • Learn about the history of anime and manga styles and their cultural significance

  • Learn to use or practice using the free art program, MediBang Paint

  • Improve digital art skills by learning about color, shading, and special effects

  • Practice giving and receiving kind and constructive feedback

  • Practice collaboration, inclusivity, creative courage, imaginative problem-solving, storytelling, and critical thinking

Requirements:

  • A computer or tablet with internet access

  • Zoom

  • MediBang Paint Pro software pre-installed (it’s free!)


    A digital drawing tablet is optional, but it makes for easier creating
