City Lab: Green by Design

  • Georgia Tech - Hinman Building 723 Cherry Street Northwest Atlanta, GA, 30332 United States (map)

Ages 10 — 13

In-person at Georgia Tech

What makes a city sustainable? In this week of City Lab, campers will explore how cities can be designed to reduce environmental impact, protect natural resources, and promote healthy communities.

From green buildings and renewable energy to recycling systems and urban farming, campers will take on hands-on design challenges that promote climate-conscious and people-friendly cities.

Using LEGO SPIKE robotics, they’ll imagine and prototype innovative solutions for a more sustainable future.

Campers will learn to:

  • Understand core concepts of sustainable design in urban environments

  • Explore topics like green energy, waste reduction, and eco-friendly building

  • Use LEGO SPIKE robotics, digital tools, and creative materials to build working models

  • Learn how real-world examples in Atlanta and beyond are making communities better for people and the planet

  • Collaborate with peers to solve real-world environmental challenges

At the end of the week, parents and caregivers are invited for a showcase of the campers’ creations!

What to Bring:

  • Campers should bring a water bottle, snacks, and lunch.
