Comic Studio: Science Fiction

Virtual | Ages 12 – 17

Join MODA for a virtual Afterschool Studio and design their own science fiction in comics!

In this virtual studio, young designers will start by imagining and sketching futuristic technologies and alien worlds. They will then explore themes such as space travel and time travel to shape their plot. Through this process, they will create a short comic strip in MediBang Paint that introduces their science fiction world and characters.

In This Afterschool Studio, students will . . .

  • Practice making suspenseful and engaging mystery plots for comic storytelling.

  • Create detective characters and their narratives.

  • Transform ideas from sketches to digital art.

  • Practice narrative pacing and visual storytelling.

  • Provide a space to share and provide constructive feedback

  • Practice collaboration, inclusivity, creative courage, imaginative problem-solving, storytelling, and critical thinking

Requirements:

  • A computer or tablet with internet access

  • Zoom

  • MediBang Paint Pro software pre-installed (it’s free!)

A digital drawing tablet is optional, but it makes for easier creating
