Ages 10-13
Join MODA for a virtual studio and create a mini adventure set inside a mysterious curiosity shop.
In this virtual studio, young designers will learn how to create an interactive game using Scratch. Students will build a curiosity shop filled with unusual artifacts, enchanted objects, hidden surprises, and mysterious discoveries. Players will explore the shop, interact with strange items, and uncover secrets through simple coding mechanics. Students will use block based coding to create movement, dialogue, item collection, and interactive events. At the end of the studio, students can share their work and receive feedback in a supportive environment.
In this Afterschool Studio, we’ll:
Use Scratch to build a short interactive exploration game
Introduce foundational coding concepts using Scratch
Strengthen logical thinking and problem-solving skills
Encourage creativity through visual design and storytelling in gameplay
Provide a space to share and provide constructive feedback
Practice collaboration, inclusivity, creative courage, imaginative problem-solving, storytelling, and critical thinking

Ellen Gadberry is a community arts educator and practicing artist with a strong focus on creative expression, storytelling, and hands on making. She brings experience in facilitating workshops and arts based programs that encourage reflection, connection, and collaboration across ages. Ellen’s work centers on using creativity as a tool for engagement, personal growth, and community building, and she brings this thoughtful approach to her role as an Educator at MODA.

This is held at the Peachtree Branch of the Fulton County Library at 1315 Peachtree Street NE, Atlanta, GA 30309.
The library is in the same building as MODA, directly above the museum.
