LEARNING FROM NATURE: BIOMIMICRY DESIGN CHALLENGE
For Grades 4 - 12th
During this in-museum field trip, a MODA instructor will guide students through an exploration of how designers and engineers learn from the natural world. Students will discover how animals, plants, and ecosystems inspire innovations in architecture, fashion, transportation, medicine, and product design through a process called biomimicry.
They’ll learn how natural systems can inspire more efficient, sustainable, and adaptable solutions for human challenges. After investigating how biomimicry works, students will become designers themselves by creating an original, nature-inspired invention using LEGO® bric
Along the way, students will practice creative thinking, observation, prototyping, and innovation while discovering how design can help people better connect with and learn from the natural world.
