This Jane’s Walk, rescheduled for weather, takes place in Cabbagetown, and it focuses on themes of art, architecture, history, and culture.
Join Curtis Jackson, the Krog Codex Archive’s Team Lead, for a tour that will introduce participants to "the Cabbagetown Arts Ecosystem," or the collection of public art on the one mile stretch of Wylie Street.
The different segments of art on this stretch of road are interrelated, collaborative, and most importantly, synergistic with the neighborhood. This tour will highlight the art and demonstrate how the different segments of work are related to each other. Finally, Curtis will discuss how the ecosystem is beneficial to the neighborhood. Attendees will tour the four key segments of art, including the Reynoldstown Style Writing murals, Forward Warrior murals, Stacks Squares, and the Krog Street Tunnel. You’ll cover the history of the tunnel, and Curtis will offer an introduction to the art scene within.
You’ll learn how art, in addition to bringing people together, also also serves as a catalyst for community change.

Getting There: Street parking in Cabbagetown can be limited. We recommend you consider ridesharing or connecting to Cabbagetown from the BeltLine!
Accessibility: This walk is covers paved terrain, and it is wheelchair accessible.
What to wear and bring: Wear comfortable shoes, and bring a bottle of water. Consider sunscreen. Also, bring your cameras!

Jane’s Walk is an annual global festival honoring the legacy of urbanist, activist, and writer Jane Jacobs with free, citizen-led walking tours through the neighborhoods that lend so much character to our cities.
The festival promotes civic engagement and encourages leaders and participants to share stories about their communities and use walking as a means of connecting with their neighbors.

Curtis Jackson leads the Krog Codex Archive: part of the Georgia State University EPIC program. The archive periodically documents all art in the Krog Street Tunnel and its immediate environs (Wylie Ave, Carroll Street, Dekalb Ave) for digital storage. It has been in existence for 3 years, and Curtis, in addition to his team of student researchers, have witnessed how the arts connect communities and drive change.

It is host to Stacks Squares, a rotating mural project to which anyone can apply (its next round will be held in August), and Forward Warrior, a live painting event and street festival (scheduled this year for September 14th).
