About This Camp
Explore how thoughtful design can strengthen neighborhoods, celebrate identity, and promote equity!
Campers will study how spaces like libraries, markets, community centers, and gathering places reflect and shape the people who use them.
Drawing inspiration from Atlanta’s communities, they’ll design inclusive, welcoming spaces that encourage connection, support local needs, and amplify cultural voices.
Campers will learn to:
Investigate the role of design in building strong, connected communities
Analyze how architecture, signage, public spaces, and layout influence community belonging
Explore Atlanta’s cultural and neighborhood histories to inform their designs
Learn how real-world examples in Atlanta and beyond are making communities more equitable and liveable
Create models of spaces that support equity, access, and local identity
Practice empathy-driven design techniques to understand and respond to community needs
At the end of the week, parents and caregivers are invited for a showcase of the campers’ creations!
