‌Midtown Alliance x MODA as City Council President Doug Shipman leads a discussion about the Midtown Studio Residency.

This new program — launched in 2021 — makes space for arts entrepreneurs to bring their practices and businesses to Midtown. It also supports the local arts economy and provides opportunities to share new talent with the Midtown audience.

The first artists to artists in residence were:

• George F. Baker III

• Jamaal Barber

• Lillian Blades

• Dr. Bojana Ginn

• Patricia Hernandez

• Jasmine Nicole Williams

Each of these artists was awarded free studio space for a year and a stipend, plus the opportunity to showcase their work and expand their network.
