Is Toast MODA the group for you? As a curated group with a specific focus beyond your traditional museum membership, we do have a few requirements for our members.
- Must have 1-5 years experience in a design-related career
- Must be approximately within the age range of 21-40 (that’s right, we’re talking to you Millennials)
- Must sign up for the Toast membership level ($150/year)

If Toast MODA sounds like the perfect place for you, mark your calendar for the official Toast launch party from 10:00 a.m. to noon on Sunday, March 5! Meet the Toasters, hear about the team's 2017 plans and goals, and influence our vision. We can't wait to meet you!
Starting with the January Kick Off Party and blasting off from there, fellow Toasters will embark on an infiltrative journey of exclusive field trips to local designer studios, exhibition-aligning service projects, design activism projects, MODA hashtag takeovers, fundraisers, and so much more - leaving behind only a crumb trail of excellence. Toast MODA events will occur once a month, bimonthly for the duration of the 2017 calendar year. Dates and events are TBA, so stay tuned!
Get to Know the Toasters
Favorite Toast: Toast with butter and jelly combined
An architecture graduate turned designer, Devan Carter is both a hometown kid and a designer for the Atlanta Hawks. Devan graduated from Florida A&M University with a degree in architecture. After realizing there was something more to design yet undiscovered, he returned home to attend the Portfolio Center to continue his education. Today, Devan works developing creative in retail and marketing for the Hawks. Only a little over a year into his career, Devan has worked to design two season campaigns for the Hawks, helped design a boutique retail store called True To Atlanta, and worked with Atlanta artists on the Sprite Concert Series. When he’s not at work, he's also teaching at the Portfolio Center because teaching the next generation of young professionals has always been a fulfilling service to Devan. If it’s not at his school, it’s somewhere at local schools and universities in Atlanta.
Favorite Toast: Lightly done with pimento cheese spread
Kelly Darby's background in architecture gives her a unique perspective to the work she does as Marketing and Business Development Manager for Warner Summers, a commercial architecture and interior design firm. She is a lecturer on graphic design and social media marketing, having given presentations in Lund, Sweden and The Art Institute of Atlanta. Kelly is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, earning both a Bachelors and a Masters in Architecture. In addition to Toast MODA, Kelly is involved with CREW Atlanta and Society of Marketing Professional Services (SMPS).

Abbey Glass is the owner and designer of her namesake clothing line based in Buckhead. After an endorsement by Jane Fonda’s GCAPP foundation and encouragement from her Paideia art teachers, the Atlanta native began her formal fashion education at Central Saint Martin’s at 18 years old. Before graduating from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) with a degree in Apparel Design, Abbey had the opportunity to work under Marc Jacobs and Francisco Costa at Calvin Klein Collection. After graduation, her career was kickstarted when she won a finalist spot in the Supima Design Competition runway show at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in September 2012.
Today, you can shop her clothing in some of the best specialty boutiques across the country or at her Miami Circle showroom.
Favorite Toast: Cinnamon swirl with butter
Steven Johnson is a senior designer at Resource Branding & Design, specializing in soup to nuts branding in real estate and related industries. He also works as a design consultant and freelancer through his own entity, Steven Johnson Studio. Originally from Atlanta, Johnson earned a degree in Architecture at the University of Virginia and a graduate degree in Communications Design at Pratt Institute. After school, he worked for world-renowned design firms such as GHD, DBOX, and Gensler, primarily working on environmental graphic design projects, signage and wayfinding design, and real estate branding.
Steven has worked on past projects for Google, the 9/11 Memorial, Microsoft, the Big East Conference, Viceroy Residences, Hudson Yards, Havaianas, Designtex, the Related Companies, Hines and many more. He piloted the effort to put Atlanta On The Grid and believes in the creative force in and around Atlanta and the power it has to affect change in our communities.
Favorite Toast: Cat toast
Tim Keepers studied architecture at the University of South Florida’s School of Architecture and Community Design in Tampa. Upon graduation, his portfolio and thesis research received top honors. For the past six years, Tim has worked on ground-up projects with award-winning firms including West Architecture Studio, Gensler, 5G Studio Collaborative and most recently, BLUR Workshop. He has played an integral role in a wide variety of projects including shipping container installations, interactive expo buildings, modern water parks and contemporary residences. Tim is also a regular studio juror for the architecture programs at both Georgia Tech and Kennesaw State University.
Outside of his professional practice, Tim founded three companies dedicated to design and visualization, fabrication and conceptual projects. Before his career in architecture, Tim was a professional wakeboarder for five years and competed on the IWSF U.S. Olympic Wakeboard team. He’s also passionate about his three cats, trampolines and Taco Bell, in no particular order.
Favorite Toast: Elvis Presley style — peanut butter, banana, bacon
Addie Langstaff relishes in the opportunity to design experiences and watch the joy and wonder unfold. As a designer and strategist at GO! EXPERIENCE DESIGN (GOXD), she thrives in the everyday hustle of the work and takes pride in the meticulous creation of impactful experiences. Prior to joining GOXD in 2015, she worked as a designer at Multiple and a brand strategist at Handmade Charlotte. Over the years, her clients have ranged from small non-profits like The Bobby Dodd Institute to large organizations such as Ford, J.P. Morgan Chase, Target, Porsche, Cartoon Network, and Turner Broadcasting, among others. After receiving a BA in Journalism and Spanish from the University of Texas in Austin, Addie pursued a design education at Portfolio Center in Atlanta. As a displaced Texan in an ongoing affair with Atlanta, she spends her free time trotting down the BeltLine and hiking along the Chattahoochee with her husband.
Favorite Toast: Brie and honey
Cassie Maleski is determined that good design and healthy living are the keys to happiness. As an Interior Designer at Warner Summers, she has worked with distinguished Atlanta clients such as AT&T, Renewvia, Callanwolde and BreenSmith—which was awarded the Atlanta Downtown Design Excellence Award by Central Atlanta Progress. A graduate of The Art Institute of Atlanta, Cassie brings a sharp graphic eye to presentation renderings which help foster work with other clients. Around the office, she is known for her infectious good mood, passion for details, and strong work ethic. When she’s not memorizing price points for finish options, she is exploring the BeltLine and vintage shops nearby.
Favorite Toast: Nutella and bananas with a drizzle of honey
Allie Miller is currently pursuing a Master of Industrial Design from the Georgia Institute of Technology and holds a BA in Fine Arts with a minor in Biology from Mount Holyoke College. In addition to her coursework, she is a designer at Spark Corps, a nonprofit that specializes in branding and communications for nonprofits and social impact organizations. As program manager, Allie is in charge of shaping Spark Corps' strategic growth and development. Prior to moving to Atlanta, she worked in various healthcare environments including public, clinical, and healthcare policy. Allie has also volunteered her time with design organizations such as The Biomimicry Institute and Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) Atlanta and Georgia Tech chapters.
Favorite Toast: Rye toast with avocado, smoked salmon, and capers
Jessica Toal, AIA, LEED AP, is the Director of Business Development at ASD I SKY — a multi-disciplinary architecture, interiors, and graphic design firm focused on corporate, financial, technology, retail, hospitality, and educational clients. Jessica started with ASD I SKY in 2010 as a Project Architect and assumed her current position in 2011. She began her professional career after graduating from the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science in Architecture in 2005. After several years with Cooper Carry in Atlanta, Jessica went on to obtain her Masters of Architecture from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Jessica is a LEED Accredited Professional and an active member of Urban Land Institute (ULI), CoreNet, NAIOP, and ICSC. Jessica is a graduate of ULI Atlanta’s Center for Leadership (Class of 2014), NAIOP’s Future Leaders (Class of 2015), Atlanta Regional Commission Millennial Advisory Panel, and LEAD Atlanta (Class of 2017).
