Field Trip: Historical Architecture (Grades 6-12)

Students are invited to learn about historical buildings around Atlanta and how they impact modern architecture today. Then they will design and create their own 3D model using white mat board and cardboard - two materials architects around the world use for designing and building models. 

Students will: 

  • Learn about 3D model making

  • Observe the relationship between traditional craft and digital design

  • Learn about historical buildings around Atlanta 

  • Use model making tools and materials

  • Learn about how model making or 3D sketching help in the ideation process

  • Experience first hand how models extend our understanding of how architecture and materials can shape our world

  • Duration: 1.5 hours

  • Price: $15 per student and participating chaperone / non participating chaperones are free

  • Registrations that are cancelled 2 weeks prior to the workshop, class or school program will result in a refund of 50%. No refunds will be available for cancellations less than 2 weeks prior to the date of the workshop, class or school program.

  • Group size: 30 max

  • Times: 10-11:30am or 10:30-12noon

  • Parking: MODA does not have a reserved parking area. Buses are able to park on 16th Street NE, between the High Museum of Art and First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta. Please note that parking is on a first come, first serve basis. For smaller groups, with passenger vehicles, parking is available along Peachtree St. NE and in the Lanier Parking Deck located at 1337 Peachtree St. NE, Atlanta, GA 30308.
