E-Textiles Field Trip Workshop - Grades 3 and Up

Learn about and experiment with electronic textiles as you craft your own versatile wearable technology and electronic accessories. Join us as we explore how to design objects using e-textiles. You'll learn some sewing, circuitry basics, and how to combine them both on this field trip! Explore everything from running stitches and tying off thread. You'll also learn the science behind series and parallel circuits and how to create them both.

  • Students will:

    • Learn practical sewing skills.

    • Understand the science behind circuits through hands-on experimentation.

    • Learn the properties of conductive and non conductive materials.

    • Practice electrical safety.

    • Balance both functionality and creativity within their designs.
