Be more than just a player! Join MODA as we take on game design and create our own adventure, strategy games within the museum.
Learn to use two CAD programs to design skyscrapers and futuristic houses! Campers will sketch and render their buildings in Tinkercad and SketchUp.
This winter, young designers will learn to tell stories and to think in motion. From storyboarding to set design to filming, campers will organize themselves into film production crews and collaborate to create a movie trailer using stop motion animation.
Scavenge through washed thrifted items provided by MODA and use conductive thread and batteries to hack your fashion and electrify your design!
Working in teams, young designers will learn to think like urban planners as they explore what makes cities beautiful, liveable, and sustainable. Then, they’ll design cities for their Hexbug using LEGO bricks, littleBits electronic circuitry modules and sensors, and other materials from MODA’s design cart.
In this Game Design camp, young designers work on MODA’s creative design server to learn the skills necessary to craft on a larger scale. Campers will design in teams, practicing designer mindsets to create a mini-game that they will test on other teams at the end of camp.
Join us for a morning of creative exploration and collaboration! We’ll use littleBits and LEGO’s to design unique habitats that meet the needs of our robotic friends, the Hexbugs.
Start the robotics journey with this intermediate Arduino class! Continue learning about microcontrollers, coding, and circuitry and take your skills to the next level as we dive deeper into how Arduinos work and learn how to program microcontrollers to operate servos, DC motors, and more.
In a morning-long session, campers will learn how to write the code that will activate their microcontrollers, allowing them to build circuits from scratch, a skill that any young designer interested in computer science or engineering needs to succeed!
