Mars 2020: Space Rover Design with LEGO Robotics
For Rising 4th to 7th Graders
What will you be doing in 2020? That’s the year that NASA scientists will launch a Mars Rover mission to investigate the surface of the planet —and to gather evidence that will help us figure out if there has ever been life on Mars!
This summer, campers who participate in MODA’s Mars 2020: Space Rover Design Camp with LEGO Robotics will learn more about robotically operated vehicles already hard at work exploring space and the challenges scientists and engineers face in designing them. Then, they’ll brainstorm other things that robots can do in space.
Over the course of the week, campers will prototype, refine, and test their robots using LEGO NXT. As they do, they’ll learn the technological ins-and-outs of LEGO Robotics (or refine those skills if they already have them), use the Common Block Palette to code their builds, explore the sensors and mechanics needed to make their Space-Bots successful, and practice design and engineering skills.
At the end of the week, campers will present what they’ve designed to friends and family.
