Get involved in The Exquisite Uterus Project at MODA!

With reproductive justice under attack, we’re joining forces  to make our voices heard and to make a difference! This is not your usual protest, however. Instead of taking to the streets, we’ll add our voices to The Exquisite Uterus Project, a feminist art project that puts reproductive rights front and center.

We’ll start by learning about The Exquisite Uterus project and admiring the works from the project that are currently on view in Making Change: The Art and Craft of Activism. Then, we’ll go to work on our own submissions. Each participant will get a piece of fabric printed with the outline of a uterus to decorate as they see fit. Whether you bead it, bedazzle it, embroider it, or add some sequins, your work will become a symbol of your stance on reproductive rights and part of a project in which 200 individuals across the nation have already participated.

MODA will provide The Exquisite Uterus fabric, a square of fabric with a uterus printed on it, and an array of craft supplies. You can also bring your own supplies.

This event recognizes that there are diverse configurations of gender, body, and chromosomal sex, and that reproductive rights is an issue that extends to many genders and bodies. We welcome anyone who has something to say about that intersection as it pertains to reproductive healthcare.

Price of admission is $35 for MODA  members and $40 for non-members and includes a glass of beer or wine.

About the Exquisite Uterus Project

The Exquisite Uterus Art of Resistance Project is a feminist art project with over 200 contributions by creative makers who have used the act of embellishing a line drawing of a uterus on plain cloth to articulate their outrage at recent increased restrictions to women’s full access to good sexual and reproductive health care and growing limitations on our ability to determine our own reproductive choices. In addition to the pieces in our exhibit, there is an incredible online archive of participants’ contributions to the project:
