Adult 3D Printing 101: Geeky Jewelry

  • MODA 1315 Peachtree Street Northeast Atlanta, GA, 30309 United States (map)

Sunday 3/4

Join us on Sunday March 4 from 12:30 - 2 p.m. for a special Introduction to 3D Printing Workshop, where we’ll be learning the ropes of 3D modeling by making our own geeky jewelry!

Geeky jewelry lets your freak flag fly as high or low as you please. People design jewelry to contain everything from subtle nods to overt references to their favorite geeky subjects. In this class you’ll get to create a geeky jewelry design of your own to get 3D printed. Come with a few ideas and we’ll show you how to make your design a reality.

Whether you’re a wiz-kid on the computer or haven’t so much as opened a spreadsheet in eons, our resident 3D printing expert/wizard/knight/ninja, Neil Miller, will walk you through the basics of a browser-based 3D modeling program called Tinkercad. You’ll learn all you’ll need to know to design one piece of geeky jewelry to dazzle your friends with. By the end of the class your creation will be ready to go to print, and in just one week you’ll be able to pick it up at MODA.

Participation and Materials Fee: $30 for non-members, $25 for MODA members.
This fee covers everything you need to bring home your own piece 3D printed geeky jewelry. Fee also includes admission to MODA’s current exhibition, Designing for a Playful City.

This workshop is appropriate for ages 16+. Please reach out to the facilitator if you have questions or accessibility needs:

If you must cancel your plans, please notify us at least 7 days prior to the event start to receive a refund of the ticket cost minus a $10 processing fee per class. Refunds are not available if we are notified less than 7 days prior to the event start. Refunds are not available if you fail to notify us or attend the event. MODA reserves the right to cancel a program if registration for the event does not meet the minimum enrollment requirements. If MODA cancels a program, a full refund will be issued to all registrants.
