Spring Break Camp: DIY Design: CAD, 3D Printing, and Circuits

Join us at MODA and make functional lamps and lanterns with with circuits and 3D printing!

Join us at MODA for Computer-Aided Design (CAD), 3D printing and hands-on circuit building to make your own unique, functioning lanterns and illuminated creations. This camp combines electrical engineering and 3D design for an interdisciplinary STEAM experience. At this camp, you’ll learn principles of electrical engineering. Campers will use the design process to make LED circuits and render 3D models of lanterns or other objects light up. Participants will also learn about 3D printers and how use run them. Campers will take home their circuits after the camp, and MODA will 3D print participants’ model which will be available for pick-up in two to three weeks.
Campers Will:

  • Develop skills in Computer-Aided Design (CAD) programs

  • Learn introductory principles of Electrical Engineering

  • How to Build Circuits from Scratch

  • Use CAD programs to create simple solids and complex figures

  • Be introduced to 3D printing

  • Improve 3D printing skills

  • Develop design and engineering skills

Meet Your Instructor

Brigid Drozda, Educator and Strategic Initiatives Coordinator

A native Atlantan, Brigid holds a BA in History from the University of Georgia with a focus on Economic Culture, Aesthetics, and the Luxury Debate. Brigid completed her Orton-Gillingham Practitioner Certification with the Academy of Orton-Gillingham Practitioners and Educators and brings design experience from a prior career in horticulture.

Brigid creates curricula and teaches classes infused with the design process blending design thinking, project based learning, and other forms of learner-driven, open-ended, experiential learning to build cultures of innovation and collaboration. Her students combine sketching and drafting with STEAM tools to execute designs that demonstrate critical thinking and functionality.

Cancellation Policy

If you must cancel your plans, please notify us at least 7 days prior to the event start to receive a refund of the ticket cost minus a $10 processing fee per camp. Refunds are not available if we are notified less than 7 days prior to the event start. Refunds are not available if you fail to notify us or attend the event.

MODA reserves the right to cancel a program if registration for the event does not meet the minimum enrollment requirements. If MODA cancels a program, a full refund will be issued to all registrants.
