Design Discourse: Design for Democracy

The way we vote — and the ways that candidates try to earn our votes — are all products of design processes. In this lecture + discussion.

Join us as MODA’s Assistant Director, Lisa Babb, gives an overview of the design work that goes into getting our vote. We’ll talk about what works and what doesn’t — and how design is influencing us, even when we don’t know it’s happening.

Among the topics to be discussed are:

  • The design of the voting booth

  • Designing political campaigns

  • Ballot design & the infamous “hanging chads”

  • Designing the voter experience

  • The Hope campaign that changed the world

  • Make America Great campaign that changed it again

  • The famous H campaign (again)

  • The exclamation that promises to change it all yet again

This event is free with regular museum admission: $10 / $8 seniors & military / $5 students / Free for MODA members. Seating is limited so please please register in advance.
