Design Discourse: Design for Exclusion
Join us as MODA’s Assistant Director, Lisa Babb leads a discussion about Design for Exclusion.
How do people come to find out they are not welcome? In the past centuries, many people came to America seeking safety, opportunity, and freedom. Others who arrived in the US were forcibly brought to our shores. And, at some point, many of these groups were judged, ostracized, or excluded because their culture, language, food, and customs were different from those already established in North America.
Design has played a variety of roles in excluding those we think are not like us. In this conversation, we’ll talk about design for exclusion across American history.
This event is free with regular museum admission: $10 / $8 seniors & military / $5 students / Free for MODA members. Seating is limited so please please register in advance.
