Level up your design skills this winter break by learning to use two different computer-aided design (CAD) programs to design skyscrapers and futuristic houses. Campers will start their day making physical sketches of the kind that are fundamental to many design disciplines. They’ll then render their sketches in CAD programs, using Tinkercad and SketchUp.
Along the way, campers will discuss the strengths and weaknesses of each CAD program, exploring why Tinkercad or SketchUp might be better for one project than another. They’ll learn to transfer files from one program to another to explore how each works and they’ll learn how to share their designs for Minecraft as LEGO instructions and 2D plans. After the camp, camper designs will be 3D printed and ready for pick up in two to three weeks.
- Learn and strengthen their use of the Design Process
- Practice sketching designs and rendering them digitally
- Advance their CAD skills on multiple platforms
- Practice applying knowledge when learning new software
Enrolled in this camp before? No problem! We'll pick up where you left off so your camper can keep making and learning.
