Intro to Tinkercad for Teens (Grade 7 - 10)
Give 3D printing a try at MODA this year. Our 3D printing classes for teens in grades 7 to 10, provide an introduction to designing in 3 dimensions. Taught alongside our current exhibition, Food by Design: Sustaining the Future, a MODA instructor will guide participants through the process of creating a 3D-printable object (such as a wall mount planter or a tabletop planter) in a CAD program and preparing the file to be printed.
Participants will learn:
how 3D printing works
how 3D printing is changing design processes and how it's impacting our world
the fundamentals of a basic CAD program
how to prepare files created in a CAD program to be 3D printed
Most of the class is spent designing functional objects for print. After participants leave their class session, MODA prints the objects they designed. Because print times can be several hours for each object, items will be ready for pick-up after approximately one week (larger classes may take longer).
$35 for MODA members / $40 Non-Members
Fee also includes admission to our current exhibitions for the participant and one adult.
