Hands On Design

 

The Design Bar in the MODA lobby is a great place to exercise your creativity and try out your design skills! Now, thanks to MODA’s new partnership with MakerBot®, you can also try your hand at 3D printing on a MakerBot® Replicator 2® 3D Printer in the Design Bar.

Stop in anytime: you can watch the printers at work or sit down at the Design Bar and customize and create your own 3D printed object.

Or enroll in one of our many Hands-On introductory classes.

Young Explorers: Printing from Minecraft

Do you have a child who loves to play Minecraft? In Minecraft, kids are able to build anything they can imagine!

Our Young Explorers class lets kids aged 6-15 take that to the next level.

Working in Minecraft, they’ll design a 3D object and then print it on a Makerbot® Replicator® 2 Desktop 3D Printer . Due to print times, items will be ready for pick-up within a few days.

Participation is $20 for Members, $25 for non-Members.  Fee includes admission to the museum’s current exhibition for the participant and 1 adult.

Kids: Make Your Own

A workshop for kids aged 8-15 that provides an introduction to designing in 3D space. A MODA Instructor will guide students through the process of creating an object before printing it out on a Makerbot© Replicator© 2 Desktop 3D Printer.

Using Tinkercad, an easy-to-use 3D design software, they’ll learn how to manipulate basic shapes, symbols and texts. Your child will leave the class with a basic knowledge of 3D design. Due to print times, items will be ready for pick-up within a few days.

Participation is $20 for Members, $25 for non-Members. Fee includes admission to the museum’s current exhibition for the participant and 1 adult.

Adults: Make Your Own
