The Design Bar in the MODA lobby is a great place to exercise your creativity and learn about 3D Printing!

3D Printing from Minecraft: Dinosaurs, ages 8-15

Our Minecraft and 3D printing class lets kids aged 8-15 take their Minecraft skills to the next level. They’ll learn to design for 3 dimensions by creating a dinosaur. They’ll also learn about 3D printing and we’ll print their creation on a Makerbot® Replicator® 2 Desktop 3D Printer.

Due to print times, items will be ready for pick-up within a few days.

At once terrifying and tantalizing, dinosaurs are a popular subject for children and adults alike. Students will learn about the science of paleontology, the basics of dinosaur anatomy, and how to design a dinosaur that can be 3D printed. Class format will consist of a short lecture by the instructor, followed by a longer work session for the students, with assistance from the instructor.

In these classes, kids will:

  • learn what it takes to use Minecraft to design for 3 dimensions
  • learn about principles and concepts of design and engineering
  • learn about 3D printing, its materials & its processes

Participation is $25 for Members, $30 for non-Members.  Fee includes admission to the museum’s current exhibition for the participant and 1 adult.
