3D Printing for Kids

The Design Bar in the MODA lobby is a great place to exercise your creativity and learn about 3D Printing!

Our Minecraft and 3D printing class lets kids aged 8-15 take their Minecraft skills to the next level. They’ll learn to design for 3 dimensions by creating an object and they’ll learn about 3D printing. We’ll print their creation on one of our 3D Printers – due to print times, items will be ready for pick-up within a few days.

3D Printing from Minecraft: Dragon’s Lair, ages 8-12

Are you between 8 and 12?

From a mountain cave to a castle, come to MODA and use Minecraft to build your very own lair for Toothless, Smaug or your favorite dragon in Minecraft.

This class will give you a chance to learn about dragons and their habitats before you design your own. We’ll start with a short presentation by your instructor about 3D printing and dragons. A longer work session will follow, in which you’ll learn to use Minecraft to design for 3D printing.

After the class, we’ll 3D print your creation so you can keep it. Due to print times, items will be ready for pick-up within a few days.

In these classes, you will:

  • learn to use Minecraft as a design tool
  • learn to design for 3D printing
  • learn about principles and concepts of design and engineering
  • learn about 3D printing, its materials & its processes
  • go home with skills you can use over and over
