At MODA, we're 100% on board with the Maker Movement's manifesto, which says that  "making is fundamental to what it means to be human." We believe that one of the best ways to explore a problem and to find solutions is by using your hands to make, learn, and explore.

3D Printing Classes

Our 3D printing classes for adults provide an introduction to designing in 3 dimensions. A MODA Instructor guides participants through the process of creating a simple 3D-printable object (such as a bracelet or phone stand) in a CAD program and preparing the file to be printed.  Participants learn:

  • how 3D printing works
  • how 3D printing is changing design processes and how it's impacting our world
  • the fundamentals of a basic CAD program
  • how to prepare files created in a CAD program to be 3D printed

Most of the class is spent designing objects for print. After participants leave their class session, MODA prints the objects they designed. Because print times can be several hours for each object, items will be ready for pick-up after approximately one week (larger classes may take longer).

This fall, MODA will sell its 3D Printing classes for adults through Scoutmob.

Private 3D Printing Classes

We also offer private, on-demand 3D printing classes for adults (ages 15 and up) that provide the same introduction to 3D design as our public classes (see above). It's a great way to learn something new alongside co-workers, clients or friends!

For information on scheduling a private session for a corporate or social, please contact Blair Banks at 404.979.6455 or bbanks@museumofdesign.org.
