Emerging Voices ’11

January 10 – January 22, 2012

In partnership with AIA Atlanta and the Young Architects Forum Atlanta, MODA was proud to present Emerging Voices 11, an exhibition dedicated to celebrating the work and talent of Atlanta’s young architecture community.  The exhibition spotlit the work of two remarkable architects honored for their work by Emerging Voices 2011, an annual competition that highlights the high quality work of young architects throughout Atlanta.

Established by Atlanta’s Young Architect’s Forum (YAF:ATL) and the AIA Atlanta Chapter, the AIA/MODA annual Emerging Voices exhibition provides a public forum for winning entrants to exhibit their work and to draw attention to architectural practices in the area that might not otherwise be recognized by the architectural community.  Winners honored in this exhibition wereRyan Gravel for his work that led to the Atlanta BeltLine and Tristan al-Haddad for his research and experimentation with Formations Studio and at the Georgia Institute of Technology.  As part of this exhibition,  Gravel and Al-Haddad presented their work in MODA’s galleries.

Also on view were the results of the 48 Hour Design Competition.  Modeled after the “charette” – a pre-1900 exercise at the Ecoloe des Beaux in France – the competition tests the design ability of Atlanta’s students, designers, and architects (up to 10 years of licensure) to respond in a brief period of time to pertinent design issues facing the city of Atlanta.
