campMODA for Home School
campMODA is held every Monday for home school families. Each student has individual access to a computer and to step-by-step programming text for robot building. The LEGO Robotics Experience is aligned to Georgia Performance Standards.
Students must enroll for two Monday sessions in order to get maximum robotics experience. Sessions are held on Monday from 1pm to 4pm and will resume in the early fall 2012.
Location
campMODA 2011 will be held on the mezzanine level of the Colony Square Mall located in Midtown on Peachtree Street between 14th and 15th Streets.
Age Groups
Campers are grouped according to age—6-8 year olds and 9-14 year olds.
Programs
The following LEGO programs are offered during each session of campMODA:
- LEGO WeDo (for ages 6-8): For children who love to build and then take their models to the next level. Working independently, kids build a model, one of 12 from the same kit, and use a computer to program their model to move and make sounds.
- LEGO NXT (for ages 9-14): Campers here use the LEGO NXT Robotics system to design, build and program their robot from scratch. Students participating in NXT are guided through a hands-on experience, where they learn to write their own programs to make their robot perform specific tasks.
campMODA robotics activities meet Georgia curriculum standards. Download details here.
PLEASE NOTE: MODA uses are Lego Education kits that are not available for retail sale. This means that participants are unable to take home any Legos.
Costs & Registration
campMODA for homeschoolers (Monday sessions) are priced at $55 each. Each child is required to enroll in two sessions ($110 total fee covers participation in both sessions) and we suggest that those two sessions be in two consecutive weeks.
