Adult 3D Printing 101: Pride Tiaras

  • MODA 1315 Peachtree Street Northeast Atlanta, GA, 30309 United States (map)

Join us for an Introduction to 3D Printing Workshop, where we’ll be learning the ropes of 3D modeling by making our own Pride tiaras!

Pride is just around the corner, so what better way to celebrate than creating something that celebrates your queerness? In this class you’ll get to create a unique tiara design of your own to get 3D printed. Come with a few ideas and we’ll show you how to make your design a reality.

Whether you’re a wiz-kid on the computer or haven’t so much as opened a spreadsheet in eons, our resident 3D printing expert, Neil, will walk you through the basics of a browser-based 3D modeling program called Tinkercad. You’ll learn all you’ll need to know to design one tiara to dazzle your compatriots and found family with. By the end of the class your creation will be ready to go to print, and in just a week or two you’ll be able to pick it up at MODA.

At the helm of your 3D printing adventure is 3D Printing Wizard/Knight/Ninja Neil Miller – who started dabbling in 3D modeling before he was 16 and has pursued the craft all throughout his life, in his work in game design, sculpture, and other creative pursuits. Once he got his hands on a 3D printer in ’05, he knew he had found his medium.

Participation and Materials Fee: $30 for non-members, $25 for MODA members. This fee covers everything you need to bring home your own 3D printed planter. Fee also includes admission to MODA’s current exhibition.

This workshop is appropriate for ages 16+. Please reach out to the facilitator if you have questions or accessibility needs: nmiller@museumofdesign.org
