Ages 5 and up

Have you ever dreamed of your perfect pet? Do you want a chance to create it? Join us for an afternoon of robotic fun as we create our own mini pets!

Before grabbing DC motors and batteries, we’ll use the design thinking process to imagine the type of pets we want to create - from what habitats they live in, what they look like, and how they should move to be successful in their environments. Next, we’ll move to sketching our pets. Using MODA’s Design Cart, we’ll grab materials to put our pets together, and pay close attention to how battery and motor placement can affect the balance and functionality of our robotic friends. Through investigation, we’ll test how our robotic pets move, how that may change depending on what surface their own, and what materials we use for its legs.

Afterwards, every young designer will be able to take their own pet home for more iterative fun!
