Ages 7-10

Robotics just got LEGOtastic! Join us for a morning of fun and learning as we use LEGO robotics to design, build, and program robots that can take on real-world challenges.

Campers will start the morning with a quick introduction to the basics of robot building and Blockly-based coding using the LEGO Mindstorms NXT kits. Afterwards, they will be issued a design challenge. Using engineering and design mindsets, campers will brainstorm unique solutions for the challenge at hand. Under set constraints, campers will work both collaboratively and independently to prototype, design, build, and code their robots. Throughout the morning, campers will be encouraged to test their robots, record their observations, and iterate their designs. By the end of camp, each young designer will demonstrate how their robot works, and explain their own design process.

Campers Will:

  • LearnAdopt designer and engineering mindsets

  • Work in collaborative teams

  • Become familiar and/or expand upon their knowledge of LEGO robotics

  • Learn basic programming skills

Enrolled in this camp before? No problem! We'll pick up where you left off so your camper can keep making and learning.

Cost:

Members: $65/ Non-members: $75

Please note camp member discounts apply only to MODA Sustaining Membership levels beginning at $8/month or $96/year and above. For more information about memberships or to join, visit museumofdesign.org/membership/ or contact membership@museumofdesign.org.
