The second Sunday of every month is Family Free Day at the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA). So join us this month on Sunday, January 14 for Wear Your Cause: How We Make Language Live!
Simple, bold, and effective – buttons are fun, wearable momentos of history. Often pinned to jackets, hats, and backpacks, buttons remain a popular, visual form of communication. Combining clever text with striking imagery, buttons can be used to express support for humanitarian and conservation efforts around the world.
Meet us at MODA’s Design Bar this Family Free Day and design your own paper button championing an issue related to social justice, human rights, or environmental efforts. Using pin back buttons, paper, and markers, try your hand at persuasive writing and create the perfect call to action. Be inspired by the works in Text Me: How We Live in Language and design your own unique font that speaks to your cause. When your finished, pin your button on and strike up a conversation.
While you're here check out MODA's newest exhibition, Text Me: How We Live in Language, an exhibition that attempts to organize, express, translate, and reflect both how we live in language and how language now defines our lives. This exhibition does contain adult content, and parental discretion is advised. Please check in with MODA's front desk upon arrival for more information, or call 404.979.6455.
