July Family Free Day: Protest Poems w/ Free Poems on Demand!

  • MODA 1315 Peachtree Street Northeast Atlanta, GA, 30309 United States

The second Sunday of every month is Family Free Day at MODA! Join us Sunday, July 9th for Protest Poems.

Poetry has always been used to express big ideas, like love or hope or fear, in a way that reaches many people. Sometimes, if you hear it spoken by the poet, you don’t even have to know the language the poet speaks to understand what they’re trying to tell you. Just like Luba Lukova’s posters on display in our current exhibit, the designer’s message transcends borders.

We are excited to announce that MODA Family Free Day sponsor, Free Poems on Demand will be joining us in the museum from 3 - 5 p.m. this Sunday! Free Poems on Demand is literary performance as social experiment! Their team will set up in the MODA galleries and write poems on the spot for anybody who asks for one, on any topic of their choosing! How cool is that?

Throughout the day we’ll create poetry together, get on our soap boxes, and celebrate expressing our perspectives. Family Free Day participants will also have the opportunity to tour through MODA's newest exhibition, Luba Lukova: Designing Justice. The event is completely free, but we do ask that you please register in advance so we know how many folks to expect.

We look forward to seeing you on July 9th!
