Squishy Circuits for Grades 1 - 3

  • Museum of Design Atlanta 1315 Peachtree Street Northeast Atlanta, GA, 30309 United States (map)

Reimagine circuitry with MODA. Using conductive and insulating dough, young designers will get hands-on experience making, testing, and refining circuits that highlight basic electronic properties.

In this 1.5 hour class, designers in grades 1-3 will use two types of playdough–one that conducts electricity, and one that does not– to build safe circuits that are not only creative, but functional. Young designers will use their circuits to add electricity to a variety of projects– from responsibly-designed LEGO cities to squishy creatures.

Young designers will:

  • Develop the vocabulary that describes basic electronics and circuitry
  • Understand the difference between conductors and insulators
  • Learn safe practices
  • Design through play, experimentation, and invention
  • Improve hand and eye coordination
  • Develop collaborative skills by working in small groups
